February Photos, Pt. XXII: Baby, It's Cold Outside

The kids spent the morning at Oma's house. For the first time ever, Selah didn't scream when I zipped her into her polar bunting thing. Perhaps the grippy shoes made her feel more autonomous.

(Such a classic Selah pose... I had to include this. And yes, her cheeks are just as edible as they look.)

This photo is UNTOUCHED. I did NOT turn it to black and white. This is what is outside our windows today.

I am wrapping my afghan a little tighter just looking at it. Brr! But what prompted me to pick up the camera in the first place was this: the polar opposite. (Pun intended.)

This is how we survive winter. Color, brief moments of sun, growing things. Also, hot beverages.

(That is for you, Christian. I'm doing the work, man, I promise!)

We picked up the kids after lunch, and when her rest time was over, Eden came downstairs with a "pwesent for YOU, Mommy!" This gifting is part of Eden's very being, it seems, and rare is the day I am not presented with a drawing, toy, rock, craft material, scrap of paper, sticker, or figurine.

(For those who are curious, today's gift included a stuffed dog with a sparkly pipe cleaner collar and a lunchbox full of ponies.)

And because I didn't have enough to do with drawing, BSF, keeping house, making dinner, continuing laundry, and that persistent blog thing, Judah provided the opportunity to re-categorize the toy bins after dinner.

I wasn't in the room for the destruction, but I imagine his thought bubble here would read, "Ah, yes. HERE is the Etch-a-Sketch. Where's mom to draw me a horse?"

Maybe Judah's day just needed a little more color.
