February Photos, Pt. XIII: Why I Don't Usually Do Posed Portraits

"Hey guys, stay right there! I want to get a picture of you quick."

"Eden, honey, show me your pretty smile!" ("But Mommy, this is my very best smile!")

(Okay, I'm sorry, but all I can think of when I look at this picture is Tarzan, Tonto, and Frankenstein.)

"Judah, sweetie, we're not done quite yet. Okay... I know, but... well, whatever. Let's get one with just the girls."

Annnnd, that'd be the end of the posed portion of the pre-church session. Between Eden's "best smile," Selah crawling away, and Judah lunging at me in a three-year-old body slam, I knew that, as always, if you want good pictures of young children, candid is the way to go.

Selah reveling in her ability to maneuver herself away from the fray.

Just before dodging an affectionate head-butt.

"What are they doing, Mommy? You can take MY picture!"

(Squinkle)

I've never believed a photo has to be crisp to be perfect.

Real life shows evidence of motion.

Tonto, Tarzan and Frankenstein truly made me laugh out loud (while all by myself in the room). Yes, the candids (correction....YOUR candids) are the best!
