February Photos, Pt. VII: Deja-Vu All Over Again

February seventh, and skies are gray, streets are slushy, skin is dry and kids are squirrelly. We've GOT to get out of the house tomorrow. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help me kick the little bug I've been fighting. (Insert here drawing of me in sweatpants, sword fighting an irritating insect wearing a fencing mask. If I weren't so lazy I'd draw it and scan it now.) ANYhow, apart from BSF this morning, today was another day on the homestead, and due to parent-teacher conferences, Eden had no preschool today. We have learned something in these first months of school for Eden: EDEN NEEDS SCHOOL. While I was pleased to talk to her teacher this afternoon about her readiness for kindergarten in the fall, we are READY for her to resume class on Friday. There's just not enough going on here. The girl craves structured activity, and when at home, it better be on HER terms.

[Thought bubble: "This place is so lame! Why can't I go to school EVERY day?"]

Oh, we love our little drama mama. She's not always so surly.

Jude and NehNeh, too, drawn to the light of the window by big machines making the mountain of plowed snow in the cul-de-sac even higher. Big shakes around here.

Speaking of big shakes, I got wild this evening and threw caution to the wind, putting a bowl of applesauce between Selah's stacks of sweet potato sticks and carrots, along with a spoon for the first time.

It was all downhill from here in terms of table manners, but the rest of us were able to eat our dinner minus squawks from the highchair of a bored babe. We can work on the finer points of utensil use; until then, we'll keep the tarp down.

Eden's thought bubble is SO dead-on. Awesome.

The black and whites of Eden and Selah are AMAZING! Gorgeous kiddos you have.
