One-year-olds don't know anything about birthdays. They don't expect presents, cake, special treatment, or the nostalgic fawning of their sappy mothers. (The day was filled with "A year ago at this time...") But even though she didn't know the difference, WE did, and we celebrated Selah today! Her official "party" is Sunday, but we took the family out for a fancy shmancy dinner at Cracker Barrel (rolling out the red carpet here) and the birthday girl dined on cooked baby carrots, fried apples, corn muffin, and pancakes with maple syrup. A birthday feast fit for royalty. In honor of this significant milestone (the birthday, not the Cracker Barrel,) Selah decided to FINALLY figure out her sippy cup.

We couldn't be prouder.

Happy birthday, Selah Joelle!

Nice comparisons...then & now. As for birthday dining @ Cracker Barrel, I think it's a step up...your Dad & I (and siblings) were treated to Howard Johnson's! Yay, Selah with the sippy cup!!

Oh Bek, I LOVE your daily pics. It's one of the highlights of my day...and not because I have a lame life but because your photos are just stunning.
