Rolling with the punches
Life has not been boring around here this week. The Matilda Jane/ Ikea trip was scrapped when we instead headed to Spectrum to visit my brother Adam after an appendectomy the night before. (He's recovering well!) We thought maybe we'd try to get over to shop Thursday, as I wanted to look at some kids' table and chair sets before Eden's birthday. When Eden and I came down with a bug on Monday, those plans, too, were history. Eden, who got a flu shot early in the season, was affected only by a runny nose. I, on the other hand, have ended up (let's just do the short version of the story here) with a full-blown respiratory flu with some pneumonia thrown in for good measure. (Also, as this diagnosis involved an early morning trip to the emergency room and a number of doctor phone calls, we did our first "non-stress test" yesterday to monitor baby and make sure everything's okay, which it is! Mama and baby are doing just peachy.) All of this, unfortunately, meant no birthday party for Eden today. Of course I know she doesn't know any different, but I'm still *so* disappointed it didn't work out! I know she would have gotten into it this year. I don't know if rescheduling makes much sense... but we'll see. Derek and I gave her a few gifts this morning and I gave her a birthday bath (no small task with her brother so dramatically protruding from my front) and dressed her in the party dress and shoes we got just for today. We're enjoying our family day, and are looking forward to Oma and Grandpa/ YaYa and Boppa stopping by this afternoon. Church tomorrow/ small group/ BSF? Probably not. We're just taking each day as it comes and I'm *forcing* myself to take it easy so I am in NO WAY affected by illness when the boychild makes his appearance. (Wow.... wouldn't it be nice if he just *appeared*?) Enjoying the sun, my Derek, and my sweet, smart little two-year-old babe.

I've been thinking about little Eden all day, and in turn, you reminiscing about her actual DAY of BIRTH...hope you're feeling better soon, I can't wait to give Edie-Jo her present from Aunt Megan, Uncle Avery & Ellis...it's sure to please!:)
Oh no! Hope you are recovering and feeling better soon. Poor Eden- but the good thing like you said is that she won't ever know the difference! Cute, cute party dress!
Yuck, it's gotten so much worse for you, but good to know that baby and mom are doing ok! Hopefully ou are feeling better soon! If babies just "appeared" don't you think there would be so many more of them? That would be so nice! Those pics are super! Love the fist one and the last one especially! Look at all that sunshine and that super cute dress! And those piggies! Super CUTE!
