Nesting in Recovery

Whew. I'm FINALLY on the mend after a drawn out sparring match with the Sickies. Still evacuating residual mucus, but again, this is trivial and welcomed after a week of quarantine and non-activity. Now that I am physically able to be productive, my running list of tasks to accomplish is spewing like 20's ticker tape from my nesting brain. I am officially to term (37 weeks for those who may be uncertain) and am experiencing the intrinsic compulsion so many gestating mothers in my position do, to clean, organize, and otherwise needlessly prepare everything in sight for the arrival of the baby. Even before I was fully out of my post-pneumonial haze, I had myself convinced that it was completely rational and NECESSARY that I stay up through the night to wash carseat padding, install the base in the Jeep, scrub the kitchen floor, organize sleepers, pack two bags and load them in the car, and finish the thank you notes from Eden's birthday gifts, so I'd be ready if I went into labor the following morning. You know, because THAT was likely. (I don't have to tell you that I didn't follow through with this plan, do I? My procrastination and strong affinity for the couch win out over instinct, even.) Maybe I should start by packing my bag for the hospital....

I'm hoping today is a good mix of productivity and relaxation. Derek had an 8am meeting and then works mid-shift (11-8,) so Edie Jo is all me today, and poor Derek has a looong stretch before he can come home and relax. The morning has been designated for cleaning, organizing, and list-making (as the toddler permits...) and I'll be dropping her off at YaYa and Boppa's at lunch/ naptime so that I can take advantage of the remainder of my sister's birthday gift to me... a pre-delivery pedicure. Mmmmm. I will combine this with a trip to Target sans ticking toddler time-bomb for some nice hospital jammies (hopefully on clearance) and possibly an 11-minute siesta in a tanning bed for some Vitamin D. And now... I wonder if I can get in ANOTHER cup of hot coffee before Eden wakes up...
