Catching up with my brain

As a disclaimer of sorts, I am utterly consumed with thoughts of childbirth, child care, dilation, nursing, and nesting.... just in case you catch any spelling and/ or grammatical errors I may miss. Tomorrow marks week 38 of pregnancy number two, and, as of my doctor appointment this morning, I am further along now than I was after a day of labor with Miss Eden. While this could mean nothing in terms of when I'll actually deliver, it's at least one or two centimeters I DON'T have to labor through when the time comes. Hauling a thirty-pound toddler around has its perks!

On the health front, I am feeling immensely better. I am so very thankful that I was hit when I was and not a month later... yipes! Renewed health and energy has allowed me to tie up some of the loose ends I've been obsessing over, and I feel much more prepared now to take on whatever God has in store, whenever that may be. And really, when it comes down to it, my obsessions are over miniscule details that likely will make no difference at all. I read a quote the other day on
Sweet Juniper that seems appropriate: "All a newborn really needs are boobs. The rest is just marketing."

Derek wraps up a seven-day stretch at work today, and I am excited for him (and us!) to have a day off tomorrow. We'll hopefully drive down to the newly- remodeled hospital to take a look around, figure out where we'll need to go when the time comes, and familiarize Eden with the look and feel of the maternity ward. She has been so much fun lately... interested in everything and using her expanding vocabulary constantly to commentate on the world around her. I'm so curious to see how she'll react to her new baby brother...

I'm off to finish my BSF lesson before class tonight. It's been 3 WEEKS since I've attended, and I'm in withdrawal! I'm very much looking forward to delving into the book of Matthew some more this evening. And, since I find it terribly difficult to post without adding a photo, here's Eden modeling mama's favorite kicks along with a birthday halter top from Aunt Laura, on the day her daddy came home from work with the worst migraine of his life.

Migraine's stink for EVERYONE involved! I LOVE LOVE LOVE piggies that stick straight out, they are so definitive of the age she is at! Is that a picture of your baby boy? Have fun at the hospital tomorow, glad you made it to BSF tonight! Hopefully you have a baby soon!

Wow- it is hard to imagine that much baby can be packed into your little tummy! Cool visual and reminder that it isn't just a bump- IT'S A BABY!!!!
