There aren't a whole lot of options for crazy hair day when the hair is this short (and SOMEone's mom didn't plan ahead any further than lunchtime prior to preschool.) Thankfully, the mohawk made his sister's clippies acceptable. I assured him they were brown and black.
This one is suddenly motivated to explore almost exclusively those things which are potentially harmful to her: electrical outlets, tiny windpipe-sized items, the trash cabinet, her siblings' dirty shoe mat, the toilet, the immersion blender attachments. (Wow, that list makes us sound pretty negligent. I promise she is alive and unscarred, and that her immune system is getting more robust every day.)
This stage was perfectly illustrated yesterday when Derek decided to "spot" her as she headed for the stairs. Though she's had virtually no practice on them, she scaled to the top in 60 seconds flat, and proceeded to make a beeline for the nightlight in the hall, which she promptly popped out of the outlet and attempted to stick in her mouth. Annnnd, the gate went up today.
This is "Supu Say-wah! Wif Supu Baby!"
Super Selah saved the morning by "helping" Lydia with a re-up on the Cheerios. This is the price I pay for a few more caffeinated minutes in my morning spot.
In lieu of our more traditional family cake-and-icecream birthday party, Eden will be having her first sleepover tonight. In addition to lists of games to play, snacks to have, and movie choices, our 7-year-old has been counting down the days.
(For each month, Eden uses a different pattern or picture to mark off days. Last month was snowflakes. She tells me this month she's using "snow, with patches of grass coming through." I can't wait to see what this girl does with her life.)
# It's all thanks.

I left two VERY giggly little girls behind at FA this morning, already immersed in talk of sleepover splendor. So excited for them, and hoping for the best for you. :)
