Late in May

As is the case each year, the month of May has been sucked into a worm hole of Tulip Time, end-of-school activities, and the strange elixir of warm atmosphere drawing us out of our caves into the sun. The crabapple is on borrowed time, it seems, as every summer its leaves become pocked and yellow before dropping to leave a sad little skeleton, long before the end of the warm season. Every spring, though, she drips with blossoms. I can't bear to chop her just yet.

(Though she is a little messy.)

I love what I can clip from my limited plantings in May.

Thanks to my mother-in-law, I had Lily-of-the-Valley this spring.

See those succulents in the back? Those were on tables at the Blue Dress Barn last week when Emily and Christian tied the knot! It's hard to believe I'm using past tense for my youngest brother's wedding.

A few short days after our celebrations with Chrimily, our sweet Eden joined the ranks of Cherry Lane Preschool graduates. She's super stoked about the cap and gown.

Oh! That photo will always bring me right back to who my firstborn daughter is in this season: particular, tentative, cautious, and too smart to fall for any tricks to get her to smile when she dang well does NOT feel like it.

She's also the girl who thinks the seed in the birdfeeder is sadly insufficient for our birds. This was composed for any need that might arise. I think there are actually a couple worms underneath the nest-building section.

The nice weather hasn't kept us from the library, and though I'm running up ridiculous late fees thanks to a certain beginning reader with overdue items under her bed, I've been trying to keep a stack of them in the den. The green chairs are a nice size for grabbing a kid to plop in your lap.

The banner (is that the right term?) was a craft project yesterday using the leftover pages from the book I bought for the art in Selah's room. It was initially meant to kill a rainy afternoon, but I kind of like the finished product.

Has everyone seen wedding pictures? It seems weird to post them again after throwing a bunch up on Facebook this week. Now that BSF is done for the summer, school is out, and the wedding is in the history books, I'm hoping to make a little more time to keep up here.

bunting - patriotic and festive decorations made from such cloth, or from paper, usually in the form of draperies, wide streamers, etc.

Whatever you want to call it, I like it.

And I don't think anyone would be opposed to a wedding picture post. :)
