WTF: Why The Face?

Consider this a posterity post of sorts, with an emphasis on the faces that give a clearer picture of the personalities my kids are sporting lately.

Selah has decidedly put herself in the "big kid" camp, and doesn't take kindly to baby treatment. ("Uh-uh, you are not EVEN trying to feed me with a SPOON, are you woman?! Give me that thing. Certainly I can do this...")

The boy, ever-secure in his masculinity, is equally interested in fierce growling beasts as he is in horses and princes. While Eden selects Sleeping Beauty for Aurora's pink dress and golden curls and singing and birds, Judah flips right to the prince, valiantly battling the evil Maleficent disguised as a "mean dwagon with sharp teesh and fire!"

Eden's reading still astounds me. A whole new world is opening up before her, and it seems almost like magic- to me AND to her. But even magic is serious business.

As we'd feared, Selah's sabbatical from walking since her initial steps at her birthday party seems to have been spent practicing in secret to perform seemingly impossible physical feats in her "first week of walking." Don't let that pudgy face fool you: Selah earns the moniker Eden and Judah use for her: "Trouble Baby."

(After taking this picture, Selah stood up against the back of the chair and started jumping. I kid you not, she was getting air.)

I don't know how many more pictures we'll see with a binky in Judah's mouth. What I do know is that, after our experience taking Eden's away, I'm in no hurry.

Sleep crutch? Yes, please.

Great shots, especially when paired with a Phil Dunphy reference. Genius.

Beck, these photos are to die for...you are a killer behind that lens. I, too, LOVE them. And I'm not even family.
