So Much to Say

I guess it's not unusual for even talkative children to clam up when put in a room with 14 pint-sized peers, yet it still surprises me when volunteers in Eden's BSF class tell me they didn't hear her say a single word while they helped in her room. Quiet compliance seems to be modus operandi for Edie Jo, a character trait which is a delight for school teachers, I'd suppose, but one I'll have to be careful with, lest we get too hung up on blind following. But I digress; the point of even bringing UP Eden's propensity for conversation (when she wants to, it seems) was as an excuse to share this direct quote from my three-year-old, as I was helping her after a trip to the bathroom.

Mommy! I need a yiddeh (little) help, mommy! You can wipe me now, mommy! You so yucky! (lucky!) That's one big giant poop! A-MAY-zing! Poop is amazing! (Impromptu song thanking God for poop that I can't even remember because I was concentrating too hard on not laughing.)

Seriously, mom? You're blogging about this?

Gratuitous photos of the day: what started as this...

...and this...

has become this:
Seven children, three and under. "Doing coffee" involves incalculable diaper changes, skirmishes, snacks, chokables removed from drooly mouths, audible bodily functions, and even MORE dirty laundry. Oh yes, and sometimes even a few sips of lukewarm coffee.

And, as promised, what it looks like when seven people are ONE family... and a good-lookin' one, at that! (Wendi, your CD will be ready soon. :)

Becky! One of my favorite posts ever!!! I love Eden's poop-amazement! I am in awe of the progression of the Pomp/Kipker/Hanneken babes... And I obviously kind of love that crazy huge family at the bottom too! You captured each of their personalities beautifully. Thank you!!!

SO funny. I had dinner last night with a friend who has a 3 1/2 year old. She found her mom's Bible and opened it and asked me to read (which, I did, straight from Psalms).

She stopped me (since I was obviously boring), said, "My turn!" and then flipped to Titus, where she read, "Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there were lots of sheep and they had dreams about God and he was nice."

The Bible, folks.
