This'll do.

I've spent a good deal of time reading "professional" blogs like
dooce and Sweet Juniper, and though I am STILL intermittently laughing out loud at such phrases as "ass trumpets" and "farting into a bowl of potpourri," (will I ever outgrow my hopelessly juvenile toilet humor? Honestly...) it makes me reluctant to submit what I know will be lesser writing to the vast reservoir that is the world of personal blogs. Eh. Over it, I guess. I do have a few photos to share from Mackinac: The Vacation That Wasn't. No part of the trip was excruciating; truly, with a two-year-old and a two-month-old in tow, I can imagine far worse scenarios than we encountered our first go-around. However, the 4+ hour drive to the bridge (keep in mind the one who still nurses every three hours...) is a long time in a five-point harness for a toddler. (Endless thanks to Christina who suggested the portable DVD player we borrowed from my parents; I'd happily trade a few Fraggle Rock songs stuck in my head for 42 minutes without constant tantrum-averting, food-promising, attitude correcting toddler banter.) Due to a number of factors, including but not limited to sub-57* temps, my absent hoodie, and the closest umbrella stroller being at the WalMart in Cheboygan, we opted not to pay for ferry tickets over to the island. We did, however, get our feet wet, so to speak, in Lake Family Vacation. I don't see it happening again soon. :)

Wow. This was nice.

Eden playing with daddy before hitting up the hotel pool: highlight of the trip.

They tolerate me for a few moments. Looking at it now, I'm a bit distraught at what might show up on that hotel comforter under a blacklight, and its proximity to my progeny...

The view looking down from our thrid floor balcony after hearing Eden call, "Ah me guggie? Ah me guggie dey dare? Ah me guggie, down..."

Wow. That's all I have energy for at the moment. Derek is presently enjoying his father's day with an hour or two at the driving range, and I, as usual, am frantic to make the most out of nap time. I do have a few more fun pictures from the last few days to share. I can't help myself!

Eden and I were preparing to give her baby a bath at the kitchen sink when I left her for a minute to find a baby towel. (This is my life.) I noticed that her dress was pulled up when I walked back into the kitchen, and asked her what she was doing. Holding a few attachments from momma's Medela Pump In Style up to her chest, she said, "Pup, mommy! Me pup!" (This one's for you, Stephanie. :)

She's really into "cooking" lately... and I am on the hunt for a cute, cheap, small kid's kitchen for her. Until then, the paper-covered cardboard boxes will have to do. Any leads would be welcomed!

Our two sweet babes

Judah Justin being his laid-back self. :)

Shoot! Lynette's step-mom had a kitchen for sale at her garage sale Friday- it's worth asking Lynette if it sold.

I'm impressed that you took your own Little People's toys to the hotel!!!! You were thinking girl!!!!

Great photos as usual!!!!

You were probably extremely smart to save the money not to go to the island. Take it from experience...nursing and the island are not a good combo. :-)

The pumping picture? Not only is it fricking hiLARious, it's even got great lighting. I tell ya...And I think it was a great call to bag the ferry ride. There's just too much horse poop on that island, I would've expected disastrous results.

I'm laughing so hard! That picture of Eden pumping is hilarious and I can just imagine the distress at seeing the pipe (that's what we call it) floor below in the grass... not a good thing! I lost ALL of my emails today including your pictures which I haven't looked at so if you still have it saved I would love you to re-email it, otherwise not a big deal, I'm sure I'll see one when they pop up on the blog! :)

Oh, and I have to check at Matt's work, but I may have a "lead" on a kitchen for you (although it may need a good clean up)! I'll let you know in a few days!

Sounds like an exciting trip! I can't imagine that long in a car with two little ones. I see the Little People came along too for the trip, gotta love them! Eden looks so serious with that pump, isn't it hard not to laugh at them when they think they're doing something right? ps. I saw our sites at Sandy Pines this past weekend so I don't need your help anymore, thanks though. We snuck in to get ice cream :)

Hey Becky,
I just discovered you have a blogger as well through some crafty link-following! Hope you don't mind me peeking in from time to time. Don't you just love dooce? That blog got me through my later years of college; it's funny to see the transition it's made. It's hard not to try to blog with expectations, huh? You do a pretty good job though. Take it easy!

blog templates rating:

your first one: 8/10 (okay, i can't actually remember it)
your second one: 5/10 (i had to squint a tiny bit to read and on my 20" giant imac screen, the graphic was intense)
your third one: 7/10 (simple, good summer colors. but i still miss the links).

from the guy who's had a million templates...most all of them under a 4/10.
