God Bless Nap Time

I promise I am not using the Lord's Name in vain when I make that statement... nay, that exclamation. God is blessing me with nap time, and I am thankful beyond my ability to express it. I can't say Eden is being terrible or surly or even grumpy, really, but her NEED for CONSTANT talking and attention and playing and snacks (yes, all simultaneously, and for hours on end) has me drained. The luxury of a few moments on the computer without any sound but my fingers on the keyboard, no one touching me or asking me ANYthing, eating a bowl of leftovers without a pigtailed vulture hovering and breathing all over me for a bite... is not lost on me. I am blessed by nap time. Until it's appropriate to have a glass of shiraz, blogger will have to do.

Changing subjects completely, this Saturday marks the five year anniversary of our wedding day! We had big plans do do a "real" vacation for our five-year, but we weren't exactly thinking of that when Mr. Judah came into the picture. He's too young to leave for the week plus we'd want to be gone, and taking him along doesn't *exactly* a romantic vacation make. So we're putting off the "real" vacation until early next spring, when every Michigander is itching to get the hell out of Dodge, and celebrating this week with a nice dinner out for the two of us, and our first stab at a family trip next week. We're planning on taking the kids up to Mackinac Tuesday and Wednesday. It seems like a good easy start for a couple of rookies, right? We'll see how things go with naps for the toddler, feedings for the two month old (who, mind you, is still nursing every three hours...) and let's not forget the logistics of transporting everyone on an island without motor vehicles.

Newlyweds on Mackinac for our honeymoon five years ago

Has anyone out there done Mackinac with little kids? Hello? Internet? Can anyone hear me? If you love me, please respond with any suggestions that may keep one or both of us from jumping off the ferry.

Easy, Mr. Jackson... I have a few choice photos of you from back in the day, and I'm not afraid to publish. :)

Gas is somewhere around $3.98 I think.

Oh-oh-oh! Post the one of us dressed up in overalls for Nikki Shine's Halloween party. Please!?!
(Good luck on the Mackinac Trip...worst case scenario, just let Eden OD on fudge, then she'll crash hard for ya.)

Love the newlywed picture- were you even legal to get married- you look like a mere babe yourself!

We LOVE Mackinac.....now that our kids are older. We took Brooks when he was still nursing. Big mistake! Not too many places to sit comfortably and nurse. He ended up needing to eat every hour or two b/c he never got in a full feeding. Eden should be fine! :-)

My suugestion for traveling with kids... Benadryl. I mean, that is what I have heard. I certainly do not know from first hand experience! ;) You are a brave soul... I traveled to Ohio with both girls pulling over several times to refasten Abby back into her 5 point harness... seriously the chick is a female Houdini. Prayers from down the block!

I will write this event down for future reference....our anniversaries are 8 days apart, except I have one year on you....a road trip with kids isn't as bad as you think...bring many snacks, dvds and kid friendly music (but parent friendly as well)..oh and books and a magna doodle (or just pack your entire house, that would be good...) have fun!!

I have a portable DVD player (assuming it is still working at the moment) that you may borrow. Also have headphones - priceless. ;) Xina
