Foiled again

I'm unexpectedly NOT busy today. The nasty cold (made only more offensive by its summer timing...) prompted me to cancel plans to travel to Birch Run with my small group ladies. This was a much anticipated trip, and not just because I'd never been to Pottery Barn, Gymboree, or Old Navy OUTLETS, but because it was to be a full DAY to myself. I don't think I need to go into great detail about how or why this is so appealing. Sigh. But here's the blessing: Derek turned on the computer this morning and kerplooey! There went the monitor. A blown something-or-other, according to the guy at Circuit City, and unfixable.

So we don't have to pay for a new monitor AND various outlet store indiscretions.

(Still bummed. Still need a day. Still feeling low on momma fuel and guilty because of it. And yes, still sick.)

However, my dear Aunt Chris found a kitchen for Eden at the Sandy Pines garage sales. YES! I do so hope it fits in the one little nook I carefully searched out for it; we have but a wee abode, and Derek has understandable concern about bringing yet another piece of brightly colored plastic into it. I've got my fingers crossed, for Eden's sake and my own. Is it foolish of me to get my hopes up for a toy that will captivate my two year old for more than a few moments? If I am being naive, I can rest in the fact that it's a mere $15 pipe dream.

*Oh yes, and the "Foiled Again" title refers to my last attempt at a shopping trip.
