It has now been eight days since Mr. Judah Buddha made his debut in this world, and I am presently enjoying my very first naptime at home by myself with two kids. They are both asleep. This usually only occurs when I, too, am asleep, and so I am spinning with the array of opportunities this window of time affords me. Dishes and NPR? Start on thank you notes? Change into a shirt that isn't milk-soaked? (And yes... any of these options sound relaxing to me, in the sense that they will accomplish a task in a non-frenzied manner, at my own pace and of my own choosing. We find joy where we decide to seek it.) I figure I have at least a few moments to tap out a blog entry before I get going again.
Life is beginning to settle into a comfortable, somewhat predictable groove. My physical recovery is going amazingly quickly compared to my recovery after having Eden, which I was NOT expecting... what a great surprise! I've also not struggled nearly as much with hormonal shifts and moodiness, which makes getting into a routine infinitely easier. Eden's mood and temperament, which were shaky at *best* Sunday and Monday, have evened out into a manageable, and sometimes even delightful demeanor. We're working on being contrary and disobedience... but what's new? She's 2. These things are made easier by the fact that Judah is... a newborn. He eats, sleeps, and poops. While his preferred decibel level when crying is impossibly piercing, it doesn't happen often and is usually solved by a dry diaper, warm clothes, and/or a boob. These are all things I can provide, and at a moment's notice. We're working out logistical changes, like having to pull the Jeep out of the garage in order to get the kids in, as our garage is impossibly narrow for maneuvering a carseat to the passenger side, where it needs to be. I'm thinking a backpack diaper bag might be in order for the summer. And maybe extended use of the Moby Wrap, which I still need to figure out. Maybe after naptime...
Overall, I feel overwhelmingly blessed by friends and family bringing meals, showering us with gifts and kind words, and helping out in so many ways. God has been so good to us.

Yay! I loved your upbeat post and can totally relate to your comment of "at my own pace and of my own choosing." Isn't is delightful??? Your baby boy is beautiful, and I love the pictures of Eden "checking him out." Glad your recovery is going better than you expected! Hope to see you soon!
OMG... "Sunbathing", I LOVE it! Love them all really! Your children are absolutely beautiful! WOW! Glad you are all adjusting to the change, what a blessing that in itself is! Hopefully it continues on a good path for you all, including Eden, I'm sure this is all a huge adjustment for her!
Congratulations to you and your family Becky. Judah looks completely scrumptiuos! Beautiful pictures on that same note. The "sunbathing" photo will definitely be timeless and I can already see it next to the senior picture on the graduation open-house photo collage. Lot's of years before that happens, of course. ;)
Love,
