Perhaps I shouldn't be up right now, sipping fully-caffeinated coffee, editing photos and perusing the internet. I haven't gotten much quality sleep the last few nights (though hey, who am I kidding... ANY sleep is quality sleep these days,) and I'm sure if I'd wrapped the boy in a nice tight swaddle and crawled back into bed after his 6am feeding, I'd have had a chance at another hour, at least. As it was, I couldn't seem to remove my nose and lips from his soft little bean as I burped him. He's a wiggly little fellow, so burping on the shoulder is a task which requires special precautions lest he thrash unrestrained and throw himself to my lap. I held him close, flattening his back with the palm of my hand to ease out the bubble, inhaling his fuzzy, milky, tragically fleeting infancy.
Judah will be one month old this Friday.
My second child and I haven't had the uninterrupted hours of staring at one another I shared with his sister. This, compiled with the experience of watching how quickly one's child flies through infancy and baby-hood and the urgency of soaking up these tender moments while they're upon us, prompts me to snuggle and kiss on my JudahBear while I can, throwing self-consciousness for sentimentality to the wind. He'll be wiping off kisses and wiggling away from me soon enough... I have to get while the getting's good. :)
