Eucharisteo :: The Boy

Where do I begin about the boy?

He turns five today. Five years ago at this moment, I was settling into an uncomfortable hospital bed to re-learn the nursing curve with the most perfect baby burrito in a little blue cap. We named him Judah.

He uses words like "camouflage," "habitat," "excellent eyesight," and "recognize," and refers to people as "humans." (Used in a Judah sentence: "Mom, do you fink Eden wishes she was me? B'cause I have such gweat eyesight?") He has a one-track mind, and determines to accomplish what he has set out to do. This to-do list includes opening a wildlife center with birds of prey, raccoons, foxes, turtles, and snakes. He will obtain these animals by "buying some, and then being a sometimes-poacher." Yikes!

Pants are not required for poaching.

I could go on and on. He says adorably innocent, hilarious things on a daily basis, most of which I forget in the tremendous effort needed to keep a straight face. Today, his day was celebrated with cupcakes, Playmobil predators, (orca and shark, grrr) new patches for his safari vest, dinner at Froggies, and an afternoon playing with Jack.

The boys didn't want to humor me.

Happy fifth year, Boy. I couldn't love you more.

I remember that little blue baby hat and the little nose and chin peeking out on that first morning with the Zeeland sunrise...

Are you sure he's only 5? That last picture makes him look many years older! Love your documentation of his passion!
