Eucharisteo :: Day 6

365 days ago, at this very moment, I was great with child. This child.

We took the kids to a fancy dinner (we're talking Russ', people,) during which I'd timed the mild contractions I was feeling, and much to my surprise, they were regular and frequent- frequent enough to warrant a call to Hotel del Yaya and Boppa.

And so Derek and I sat in our strangely quiet house, waiting. We caught up on Downton Abbey and timed contractions that seemed to be slowing down, despite my efforts to keep things moving, what with the vacuuming and the Medela. (And if those references are unfamiliar, do yourself a favor and DON'T look it up.)I went to bed discouraged, as things seemed to be stalled. As it turned out, I had no reason to doubt the little one's agenda. I woke up at 3:33am to a "go time" contraction, and the rest is history. And so, in keeping with eucharisteo, I have a long list of graces for which I'm thankful, including family in town to care for my children, caring, experienced OB nurses, natural endorphins (good call, God... those things are SWEET,) laboring with Lord Grantham and Lady Mary, and Russ' Restaurant. Tomorrow we celebrate Lydia June.

I remember it well...one little guest and her Boppa came down with stomach flu, extending their stay at the Inn. Lydia's homecoming also coincided with our dual residency in Northern Wisconsin. It makes me grateful for all the safe travels back and forth and God's guidance through all the elder-issue decision making and care. Eucharisteo.
